Dan ALSTER, Managing Director

Dan joined J. Wood Capital Advisors in April 2024 and leads the firm’s debt capital markets advisory practice.

Dan has worked in investment banking and global capital markets for over 21 years, including 15 years with JPMorgan and 4 years with Bank of America.  Prior to joining JWCA, Dan led the West Coast Leveraged Finance practice at BofA and, prior to that, JPMorgan, focusing on the technology and media/entertainment sectors, with both corporate and financial sponsor clients.   As part of his responsibilities, Dan helped originate, structure, market and execute loan (bank and institutional) and high yield bond transactions.  Dan was responsible for winning and leading the financing for some of the most notable technology acquisition transactions in the last few years including Gen Digital (FKA NortonLifeLock) ~$9.6bn acquisition of Avast and Western Digital ~$19bn acquisition of SanDisk.  During the Financial Crisis, Dan worked at Evercore Partners as a Vice President in the Restructuring and Capital Markets Advisory Group, and worked amongst others, on General Motor’s ~$54bn Chapter 11 / Section 363 sale (the biggest industrial bankruptcy at that time).  Prior to being a finance professional, Dan was an attorney with Naschitz, Brandes & Co in Tel-Aviv, Israel.  Dan also served in the Israeli Air Force in different capacities, with a most recent role as a Captain and an Air Traffic Controller.

Dan graduated from Boston University with Masters of Business Administration (Finance) degree, finishing #1 in his class; LLB Law (Commercial Law) and Bachelor of Business (Finance) degrees from the College of Management in Israel.  Dan was admitted to the New York Bar in 2002.  He is a FINRA Registered Representative holding Series 7, 63 and 24 licenses.
